You have my heart, Paris.
“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”
― Henry Miller
You are someone with great wanderlust and have visited many countries (Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand…. Are you ever home!), what makes Paris, France different from all the places you’ve visited?
Paris has this whimsical & magical feel to it. You’ll understand when you step into the city. It’s filled with so much vibrancy and life. There’s this alluring charm to it. Oh yes, don’t get me started on the delectable pastries – YUMMMM!
They say in France, wine is cheaper than water. Is that true? Did you have a lot to drink yourself?
Generally in Europe liquor is very affordable. Unfortunately, I did not have much to drink as I was rushing about hosting as well as shooting travel visuals.
As a fashionista visiting the fashion capital, it must have been a great shopping experience for you! Do you have any particular shopping places to recommend?
I would recommend Printemps. It’s like the popular Galeries Lafayette but less crowded.
Have you had any bad experiences whilst travelling and tips you’d like to provide readers with?
In Paris it’s good to know some basic French. For example, greeting and saying thank you in French. Also, keep your valuables close to you as Paris is famous for their gypsies who distract you while another does the pickpocketing. Locals would tell you to be wary of them as you walk along the the crowded shopping streets and tourist landmarks. My friend had his phone stolen once.
We’ve observed you are quite the sweets lover from your instagram, do you have any specific desserts recommendations other than macarons?
Having crepes in Paris is a MUST! My favourite would be the banana nutella crepes.
What is one attraction that everyone must NOT miss when visiting Paris?
Without a doubt the Eiffel Tower. But do head over to the Trocadero for a better view of the iconic landmark & to take better pictures too.
Paris is known as the city of lights, city of lovers, fashion capital and capital of sweets – can you describe your favourite activity in Paris? Shopping, eating, or just strolling through the city?
It would be strolling down Champs-Élysées. Start at the Arc de Triomphe and walk straight down – As I was advised by my Dad during our last trip here. That straight path would take you all the way to the Louvre, the largest and most beautiful museum in the world i.m.o. Do remember to stop by PAUL for the best hot chocolate EVER.
If given the chance to re-visit Paris again, what’s the one thing you MUST do / visit this time round, which you didn’t during your last?
I don’t think there’s anything else which I MUST do or visit. However, I do love to have my family and Joal with me the next time I’m travelling to Paris. Like you mentioned, it’s a city of love and I would love to have the people I hold so close to my heart right beside me.
How do you fund your travels?
I usually save up for my travel trips. However my work takes me around the world as I work with clients on travel related advertorial campaigns. Alternatively, if you’re having a bad case of wanderlust after looking at the travel visuals – You can WIN a trip to PARIS simply by following this link here: http://www.tampines1.
